The Mayor of Mazarrón asks the Minister of Health for sanitary improvements and more measures to combat Covid
They have addressed the current situation with the increase in Covid cases in the municipality and the critical situation for the hotel industry and commerce in the summer season
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, accompanied by the Councilor for Health, Francisco José García, met this morning with the Minister for Health of the Region of Murcia, Juan José Pedreño, to address different issues of importance to the municipality. Gaspar Miras has made several requests to the Minister of Health, among which the following are fundamentally highlighted:
– Reinforcement of primary care in the health centers of Mazarrón and Puerto, in order to strictly monitor the Covid.
– Carry out a curfew from 2 to 6 o’clock in the morning, following in the footsteps of the Valencian Community, given that the focus of contagion is not in the hotel trade but in the bottles that are made in public spaces, being the hotel trade and commerce those most affected by a problem unrelated to this sector.
– It has also been proposed that with the utmost urgency the vaccination of the age group between 20 and 29 years old in our municipality be started.
In addition, the counselor has been asked that the 24-hour emergency service in Puerto de Mazarrón be carried out 365 days a year and also that in the summer months the emergency service in Puerto de Mazarrón is reinforced with more personnel, since With the current numbers, the service is clearly insufficient.
Likewise, the Ministry of Health has been asked to finalize the creation of a mental health unit in the Puerto de Mazarrón health center, a matter on which progress had already been made in meetings with the previous head of the department. Finally, Gaspar Miras has expressed to the counselor his commitment and availability to continue participating in the financing of the health services carried out by the Red Cross in the municipality.
