As previously muted Corvera Airport will open on January 15th with flights to twelve destinations in three European countries, the new airport will be 40kms/25miles and a 40 minute drive from Camposol via the RM2 motorway.

London with a total of four flights will be the destination with the most connections.

The new Murcia International Airport at Corvera will link 12 destinations in three countries of the European Union, United Kingdom, Ireland and Belgium, starting next January 15th.

The airport will have flights connecting with nine destinations in the United Kingdom, two from Belgium and one from Ireland, operated by Ryanair, EasyJet and TUIfly Airlines.

According to the Regional Government Spokesperson, Noelia Arroyo, in a press conference after Special Governing Council Session, Ryanair has a total of seven routes: London-Stansted, London-Luton, Manchester, East Midlands, Birmingham, Leeds-Bradford and Dublin; EasyJet Three destinations: London-Gatwick, London-Southend and Bristol; And, finally, TUIfly will have two routes: Brussels-Charleroi and Antwerp.

According to the information provided by AENA the Spanish Airports Authority and operator of Corvera to the Regional Executive, there will be 40 flights a week travelling to these cities, with more than 5,000 seats offered by the airlines.

Spokesperson Arroyo added that “the number of links will increase in the second quarter of the year, coinciding with the summer season, with other cities in Spain and Europe” and the addition of more airlines, among them will be the airline Volotea, which has announced that it will have a route connecting the region of Murcia with Asturias from May.

“AENA have confirmed that all the actions are underway for the opening of the airport, especially those related to the main equipment and systems available so that it can host flights on 15 January,” added Arroyo.
