The first step to remove the toll on the AP-7 on the section that penalises the residents of Mazarrón.
The main circumstance that justifies this request is the fact that the inhabitants of Mazarrón including Camposol have as their nearest assigned Hospital, the Santa Lucía General University Hospital in Cartagena, which requires them to travel there to receive treatment, the shortest route being the current AP-7 where they are obliged to pay an approximate toll cost of 11 euros per return trip.
The initiative was instigated by the PSOE Party and while the motion was approved by Mazarrón Council, the PP Mayoress could not persuade her Regional Assembly colleagues to follow suit resulting in the Regional PP Party abstaining in the Regional Assembly Pleno meeting on 17th May, fortunately the other Political Parties voted in favour and the proposal was approved.
The Spokesman of the Regional PSOE Parliamentary group Joaquín López Pagán, the Deputy Spokesman Alfonso Martínez Baños and the Secretary General of the PSOE of Mazarrón Gaspar Miras have shown their satisfaction with the approval, in the Committee on Territorial Policy of the Assembly, a socialist initiative to take the first step in eliminating the toll to all residents registered in the Municipality of Mazarrón using the AP-7 motorway section linking the town with Cartagena.
The next step is for the proposal to be heard by the National Government in Madrid and if approved would result in all those registered on the Mazarrón padron being exempt from paying a toll on the Mazarrón to Cartagena section of the AP-7 motorway.
