Exhaustive access controls to the municipality
During the measures, no movements of citizens from outside the municipality to their second homes were detected.
The Local Police of Mazarrón and the Guardia Civil have continued this Saturday carrying out exhaustive access controls to the municipality, especially to the coastal area, before the start of Easter and with the main objective of preventing the movement of citizens from other parts of the Region or from the rest of the country to their second residence. ´
Since yesterday, around fifteen of these measures have been carried out and, until 3:00 pm on Saturday, both bodies have reported that there have been no serious incidents or movements of foreign citizens to Mazarrón. In fact, in 90% of cases the vehicle was occupied by a single person. However, some internal movements without just cause have been detected and have been reported.
For this reason, as well as for not correctly complying with the rules of confinement and limitation of the opening of establishments that the same royal decree dictates, the Local Police has already issued a total of 140 fines, proceeding to send them to the Government Department in Murcia to process the corresponding sanctions.
From the Local Police, citizens have been asked not to share unverified information or hoaxes that are being transmitted through social networks and they are urged to stay informed through the official medias of the different administrations and bodies and forces of State security.
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, remarked that it is “the obligation to comply with the regulations established by Royal Decree 463/2020 for the State of Emergency, with compliance of the regulations by everyone” and restated that “the violation of these guidelines will entail the imposition of harsh penalties, especially for those who travel from other parts of the Region of Murcia or Spain to our municipality”.
