The Mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, and the first Deputy Mayor, Ginés Campillo, have held a press conference in which they have sent a message of calm to the municipality, after news that one of the Covid19 cases detected in the Region of Murcia is a 62 year old male resident in Puerto de Mazarrón.
Given this situation, the Mayor has urged citizens to remain calm and follow the advice they are receiving from the health authorities. One of them, to avoid assemblies of people so the Mayor has announced that, in this sense, the Communal Meal for the Elders for the festivities of San José has been suspended, because it is a risk group; as well as the family bingo at the centres for elders in Mazarrón and Puerto and Club de Pensionistas de Mazarrón. He has also had to postpone the celebration of the Murcia Master Cycling Championship that was to be held on March 28 and 29 in Mazarrón.
Therefore, it is recommended that if you have symptoms of fever, cough and/or breathing difficulties, you should call the emergency number 112. You should not go to the health centre, since 112 will give the appropriate instructions. It is also important to wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes, stay two metres from people who have symptoms, sneeze into your elbow and use tissues.
The Mayor urged citizens to follow the evolution of the containment phase through the official channels of the National Ministry of Health and Murcia Regional Ministry of Health, both on their websites and through their profiles on social networks. In addition, he stated that an information telephone number that is 900 12 12 12 has been made available to citizens for those who wish to expand more information. The municipal emergency and health services are at all times in contact with the regional officials to work together in this phase of containment.
